Walkman, the player not the band, although I love the band...

I remember being in junior high and those Sunday nights when you had to go to bed early because you had school the next day.
But it's 9pm! Didn't matter off to bed miss "you're not an adult quite just yet".
My solution, sneaking my walkman underneath my sheets and popping in my favorite tape or listening to the radio till my eyes would drift to sleep.
I miss the feeling and innocence of just falling in love with songs, being too young and not experienced in life to quite get the lyrics but knowing that I loved the emotion of the harmonies, melodies and the musical movements.
This is how the MGMT record makes me feel.
I went to their Echoplex show a month or so back and thought they were good but just recently picked up their record and it's just amazing.
Of course I've been loving their singles, Time To Pretend and Kids but their track The Youth, ahh just pure love.
If the show Freaks and Geeks was still on air, MGMT would have licensed the entire season.
Seriously why did that show get cancelled, how dreamy is James Franco?!
If I was a teen in the 70's, this would be my band, I would have their poster in my locker and on my bedroom wall. I would have the cool tee with the heart and the bands name in the middle.
Could they become the Rolling Stones of our time? Who's to say but they are one of the beats of my heart.

And because it's Sunday night I'm again going to recommend some cool videos.
People, if you're not watching Subterranean do! It's a great show on MTV2 and with a lack of shows that showcase up and coming gems, this show should be recording on every one's DVR's.

I am hearting, the Shout Out Louds, "Impossible".
Great track, greater album, cool video.

Another beat of my heart, The Blakes, "Don't Bother Me".
The video is simple, true and reminds you why recording studios are so magical. Oh, they use Orange amps, sigh...they get it.

Hot Chip, "Ready for the Floor".
I don't even know where to begin on how fantastic and just purely great they are so just buy their records and put your dancing shoes on.

Saul Williams, "Sunday Bloody Sunday"
Artistic U2 cover showing the serious problem with homelessness. He has talent shooting from his fingers and toes, catch him at the Troubadour, March 25th.

In honor of St. Patty's day I leave you the video, "A Pair of Brown Eyes" by The Pogues.
This is the track that we all should have our pint of beer in hand singing and moving side to side to.

Cheers you music loving hearts, cheers.
