Positives of Insomnia

Getting work done, catching up on my shows on the DVR, actually opening and reading my mail? All of these would be good answers but alas the one true joy of my insomnia is watching music videos between 2 to 6am. Sunday nights are my particular favorite because MTV2 has its one good show of the week, Subterranean. An hour long music video show of indie suns and stars. Of course I don't watch it live because there's some crap show on a major network that I'm addicted to...but when my insomnia kicks in, I know it's there waiting for me next to my Oprah and People's Court, yeah I said it.

Videos that I enjoyed this week, "Someone Great" by LCD Soundsystem. I'm hearing this song more every day on radio. Did the label finally get those adds? Didn't I buy this song on I-99cents a few months ago and it's now being pushed as a single? Either way, I dug the video. You can view it here.

Another video that I "digged"was "Women of the World" by Yacht. ("digged", I still haven't checked out that site but will...) My mind wanted to seizure, I thought videos like this were against video regulations due to people who have epilepsy? I love that Jona Bechtolt is wearing a Nirvana tee, makes me feel old but in a mature, sophisticated way. Save the date, he'll be in LA March 7th and New York April 19th.

Watch this ship, I think it will sail over many seas. Here's the head trip of a video.

A video that was a bit disappointing was "Lake Michigan" by Rogue Wave.
You know the band that's on the Zune commercial that's not the Shins. The best part of this video was the track and that's not a good thing because this is a video show right? I understand the issue of being granted a certain budget but really folks, this is the single your band is pushing. I'm not saying compete with Microsoft but I expected more than a tree and sprinklers. You can view the video here.

Here's the Zune commerical that features the track. They should have just used this...

Then right before I finally dragged myself to bed I heard the voice, the beat, the lazy eye.
"Jigsaw Falling Into Place" by my lovers Radiohead.
No budget, nothing to recoup and still amazing.

I can now go to bed and dream.
